Title | Density-introduction |
Description | This is an activity that was designed as part of a collaborative project with middle school teachers at Uplift Education in Dallas, Texas. It could be used in a physical science, physics, or chemistry course depending on the student population. One of the files is a pre-lab with real equipment written by Christine Denison. The teacher notes includes some of Christine’s thoughts about how the activity went and possible changes. We may re-post this lesson before the next school year. |

This is exactly what I was looking for. THANK YOU, THANK YOU!! You are saving me a tremendous amount of time by not having to develop this activity on my own. I truly appreciate it.

Great activity for introducing our students to Density labs and for introducing them to simulations in science, which is key in this day and age of on-line testing.

Wish they had specific keys.

Thank you all for your encouragement. I am not sure what David means by specific keys, so I will try to email him.

I sent this note to David: "Thanks for your comments. Authors typically do not post answers on the PhET website because students find them too easily. If you want some help from me, I would be happy to share since I can see that you are a teacher by your email address. Many of my activities do not have specific answers however since they may have been designed to illicit student prior understandings or understandings in progress. Feel free to send me questions to which you can see there are specific answers like “What are the values of the unknowns?”. I do have those answers documented." Then, David sent me a request with information that showed he was a teacher, so I sent him the answers to the Unknowns with my work.
