In an interview study, we found that students tend to think pH measures the strength of an acid. As a result, many students think a stronger weak acid means a more concentrated weak acid. We developed this activity to confront the student idea that concentration and strength are directly proportional.

I teach AP Chemistry. I modified this activity to include an additional inquiry as to how the concentration of a weak acid affects its % dissociation and will tie this back in the classroom setting to LeChatelier's Principle.

Great idea! I love the connection back to LeChatelier's Principle.
