We’re excited to add yet another HTML5 simulation to our growing touch/tablet-compatible mathematics collection–just in time for the 2014-2015 academic year. With the new HTML5 Graphing Lines, explore the world of lines. Investigate the relationships between linear equations, slope, and graphs of lines. Choose between the “Slope,” “Slope-Intercept” and “Point-Slope” tabs. Then challenge your knowledge in the “Line Game”!

Try our new HTML5 tablet/browser-compatible Fraction Matcher simulation. A great way to improve fraction skills for the younger student. Match shapes and numbers to earn stars in this fractions game. Students can challenge themselves at different levels, collecting stars as they improve their fraction skills. Choose between the “Fractions” and “Mixed Numbers” tabs for more learning fun.

Mix “virtual” summer drinks with the Concentration simulation. Watch your solution change color as you mix chemicals with water. Then check molarity with the concentration meter. What are all the ways you can change the concentration of your solution? Switch solutes to compare different chemicals and find out how concentrated you can go before you hit saturation!

Then have more fun by making your own lemonade or summer drink!

Over the 2013-14 school year, we were able to redesign and publish 16 new HTML5 versions of our simulations. And, even though school’s ending, PhET will be hard at work during the summer.

How do strong and weak acids differ? Use lab tools on your computer to find out! Dip the paper or the probe into solution to measure the pH, or put in the electrodes to measure the conductivity. Then see how concentration and strength affect pH. Can a weak acid solution have the same pH as a strong acid solution?

We’ve added yet another HTML5 simulation: Friction.

Learn how friction causes a material to heat up and melt. Rub two objects together and they heat up. When one reaches the melting temperature, particles break free as the material melts away.

Try the newest HTML5 simulation addition: ph Scale: Basic. Based on the JAVA pH Scale, the new HTML pH Scale: Basics  opens up the world of acids and bases to middle school students.

Test the pH of things like chicken soup, hand soap, blood, spit and soda. Investigate whether changing the volume or diluting with water affects the pH.
